Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), also known as artificial insemination, is a type of fertility treatment that can help individuals or couples start a family using either the sperm of a partner or a donor.
Some individuals choose IUI because it is less invasive than other types of treatment and may involve less medication. It is also a quick procedure and should cause no more discomfort than a cervical smear test.
The IUI procedure involves placing sperm directly into the uterus. Before performing IUI, your consultant will recommend some investigations to determine whether this treatment is suitable for you.
The program includes:
- Consultations of a reproductive specialist
- Controlled ovarian stimulation or natural cycle monitoring
- Intrauterine insemination procedure (single or double introduction of sperm within one menstrual cycle)
- Patient coordination and medical support from the first contact and up to 12 week of pregnancy
